In the course of the project “SDG Striker”, the Energy Institute at JKU Linz aims to increase organizational capacities for good governance in mass sports organizations by supporting the implementation and communication of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In this way, a shared understanding of good practices can additionally be developed before, during, and after testing and evaluating their replication potential in national and international sports federations.

For this purpose, relevant research findings of sustainability aspects on three focal points (energy poverty/energy efficiency, photovoltaics and green turf filler) were compiled and an approachable “Practical guide on SDGs and sports” was put together, the results of which are not only relevant for football. As a basis, a comprehensive survey was conducted among soccer clubs in Norway, Portugal & Scotland to find out their needs and current practices.
